Common Excavator Fault & Solution

Problem: Excavator Engine Overheating

Solution: Engine overheating in Caterpillar excavators can stem from several issues. First, check the coolant level and ensure there are no leaks in the radiator or hoses. Inspect the water pump for proper function and listen for unusual noises. A faulty thermostat might be stuck closed, restricting coolant flow. Also, examine the fan drive motor to ensure the cooling fan is operating effectively.  For Mitsubishi engines, ensure the thermostat regulator is functioning correctly.  If overheating persists after checking these components, a more detailed inspection, including system flushing and pressure testing, may be necessary.
